Here at As Seen In Japan, we like giving the people what they want. And considering like 99.99% of our traffic comes from posts about Kit Kats, we want to continue giving you posts about Kit Kats. A benefit of this is that it allows us to eat lots of Kit Kats. In Japan, there are dozens and dozens of Kit Kat flavors, to the point where almost every time I go to the store, I see something new. My most recent trip was no exception, allowing me to make a new friend: Strawberry Milk Kit Kat.

Wait, Kit Kats flavored like strawberry milk??

If you’re American and have only tried classic chocolate Kit Kats, fruit-flavored ones might be new to you. They’re quite popular in Japan, with many fruit flavors available, but the fruit ones differ slightly from their chocolate brethren. The exteriors are thick and sugary, with the added benefit that they don’t melt as easily. You get less crunch and more sweetness than classic Kit Kats, but the sugariness and artificial flavor can sometimes be overwhelming, which is why packs like these that feature a bunch of mini pairs are usually best. Also note that this bag can be transformed into a heart, just in time for Valentine’s Day in two months.

Some fruit Kit Kat are better than others, but seeing Strawberry is a good sign, as Strawberry Maple was one of my absolute favorites that I’ve ever tired. How did Strawberry Milk stack up? Let’s find out!

How do Strawberry Milk Kit Kats taste?

The consistency of the exterior was spot-on, not melted but also not a giant block that stripped away from the wafers (which sometimes happens). It was soft on the outside, though missing a bit of crunch on the inside. The big question was how they would choose to represent the flavor of strawberry milk. A quick glance at the bag could tell you that Nestle is involved in this product, which could be a sign of the direction they’d go.

And boy, howdy, did they nail it. They taste EXACTLY like classic Quick as I remember it from my childhood and also my adulthood. The slightly fruity, slightly milky, all bad for you taste of strawberry milk was definitely there. I didn’t think they were too strong; Eriko and I agreed they were much milder than some other flavored Kit Kats. There was a bit of sugary/artificial taste left in my mouth, but no so bad that I didn’t want to gobble up several more of them. This bag did not last long in our house.

All in all, I’d definitely recommend these. They aren’t fit for the Kit Kat hall of fame (Butter flavor forever bro), but I’d gladly eat them again. In fact, I might eat them again. Right now. Give them to me. I want them.

Are Strawberry Milk Kit Kats available in America?

Sadly, at present, the answer is no. Amazon does have a number of Strawberry and Strawberry-adjacent options for Kit Kat enthusiasts, but Strawberry Milk and my beloved Strawberry Maple are currently not offered stateside. However, my experience has been that a few months after a flavor is offered in Japan, it can sometimes be found on Amazon (albeit at an increased import price), so check back in the future to see if it becomes more widely available. And in the meantime, you can sample some of these other strawberry varieties, as they’re probably pretty good as well. Kit Kats are good. Candy bars are good. Life is good. Japan.
