This week, Eriko reviews a new snack I found at 7-11!

Hello! I am Eriko! We found a new Black Thunder product that will soon be popular around the world! (The sale began on June 20, 2022 in Japan.)

I like to have treats when I come home from work. I bought a bag of cheap donuts from the store last week, and every day when I got home, I ate one donut. But one day last week, I reached into the donut bag and found Gregg had put these inside!

Banana Thunder

This is Banana’s Thunder.

The way to make something possessive in Japanese is “No.” The name of this candy bar is “Banana no Thunder,” so it’s actually “Banana’s Thunder,” not “Banana Thunder.”

The package shows a gorilla eating bananas and chocolate.

He is Gorilla Thunder God. It says so!

And it says that this candy bar has banana chips in it.

Sounds good!

The bottom is milk chocolate and the top is banana-colored chocolate.

It's bumpy, must have lots of banana chips in it.

I'm sure we can expect this to be a delicious find.

Maybe.

The inside is nice, with just the right amount of cookies and banana chips, and milk chocolate to match.

But one thing:

Banana flavor is difficult to convey in candy. More than other fruit flavors, it tastes different from the real fruit. Orange, grape, and strawberry always taste good as candies, but banana candy often tastes fake and has an aftertaste. That is true here as well.

Also important to know is the price: ¥43 with tax.
